There are lots of easy side hustles that don’t require experience, a set time commitment, or a special skill. Watching videos is one of them.

Although you won’t make a ton of money, you can expect to earn a few dollars an hour while you let ads, previews, TV shows, and movies play on your smartphone or tablet.

Whether you want to pay off debt, fund a large purchase, or you’re just looking for a reasonable side hustle you can do in your spare time, watching videos online is a legitimate option for scoring extra cash.

How to Make Money Watching Videos

The easiest way to get started is to find sites and apps that provide videos for you to watch. You’ll register with the sites, agree to their terms and conditions, and perform the tasks required. Although all of these sites pay you to watch videos, some will offer other opportunities to make money by completing surveys or participating in challenges. Some even offer referral or sign-up bonuses.

You can take advantage of all relevant opportunities to maximize your earnings.

You’ll generally collect cash payouts from most sites, but some will only let you redeem your earnings for gift cards or other similar rewards.

How Much You Can Expect to Earn Watching Movies

As with most online jobs, the amount you earn depends on how much time you put in. If you watch videos daily, it is possible to earn between $100 and $200 per month across several apps and websites. If you’re inconsistent in your video-watching efforts, expect to make less. Our reviewers estimate hourly earnings to come in between $2 and $5.

While that figure may seem low, it’s worth noting that these tasks are generally completed while you are doing something else.

For example, if you’re watching football on a Saturday afternoon and you decide to open one of the apps below while the game is on, you could potentially earn $7.50 during the three-hour game. Then, during an episode of America’s Got Talent, you might earn an additional $2, bringing your total to $9.50 you earned while watching TV.

It’s not the highest-paying side hustle, but if you do that on 20 separate occasions during the month, you could earn up to $150.
