Over 70% of adults read at least one book last year. Nearly all of them did it for free. Here's one way to turn your unpaid pastime into an income-producing gig.

Income Potential: $200 per completed book

Details: If you’re an avid bookworm, odds are you’ve read at least one New York Times bestseller in your lifetime. My money is on the over.

We presume that most of the time you did this for free because you simply enjoy reading them. But if you’d like to actually get paid to read books like these, there’s a neat little opportunity that recently popped up that just might be up your alley.

A research company called WordsRated is looking for help collecting details on NYT bestseller-listed books. Specifically, they’re looking for readers to plow through books cover to cover while jotting down detailed information about the characters and plot.

Their names, their ages, adjectives that describe the characters, how frequently they have dialogue — that kind of stuff. It’s not rocket science, but in their line of work, someone has to do it, and that’s where you come in.

Specifically, they’re looking for 5 to 10 all-stars who can chew through books and spit out the details they’re looking for. Each completed book, along with the data submission, will net you $200.

You can read and submit in your spare time, or you can turn it into a full-time gig. It’s fully remote, and you can read and submit from anywhere in the world.

Check out their details and application page to learn more and to apply.
